Today in Disneyland History:
The Flying Saucers Attraction opens in Tomorrowland. The Attraction rested on a 916,00 square foot air hockey like platform and allowed 32 individual guests at a time to pilot their own saucers by leaning in the direction they wanted to go. The objective: crash into as many other people as possible! & thats exactly what 5,313,882 guests did until the attraction’s closing on Aug. 5, 1966 (just about 5 years after it’s opening). Though the original attraction hasn’t been seen since it’s closing, it’s operating system served as the inspiration for Carsland’s “Luigi’s Flying Tires”.
The flying saucers (Tomorrowland) is being some what reincarnated with Luigi’s flying tires in Car’s land
I remember going on the Flying Saucers with my Dad.
I am very excited for the updated version of this ride opening in Cars Land! Whoo Hooo Lugi’s Flying Tires
